- The historic carmaker from Barcelona supports the Spanish Extreme E team
Hispano Suiza joins the ACCIONA | SAINZ XE Team as sponsor for the 2022 season of Extreme E, which starts this weekend in Neom, Saudi Arabia, with the Desert X Prix.
With this new agreement, the winged logo of the Spanish automaker will feature alongside the other partners of the team in the front and in the back of the Odyssey 21 of Laia Sanz and Carlos Sainz. It will already be visible in Saudi Arabia.
Extreme E is a ground-breaking electric off-road championship that fights climate change and promotes gender equality. It does so by supporting environmental projects in the different locations of its calendar and by having complete gender parity in the line-up of the teams, among other measures.
ACCIONA | SAINZ XE Team is the racing team of Carlos Sainz, ACCIONA and QEV Technologies, and its drivers are the highly successful Laia Sanz and Carlos Sainz, who already raced together in the 2021 season. They clinched a podium in Greenland’s Arctic X Prix and this year they aim to take a step forward and to fight for victories and the overall title.
Besides the sporting side, Extreme E stands out from any other championship because of its social commitment. The series promotes both gender equality in motorsports and also the urgency to take action against climate change. In fact, the series is carbon neutral.
Hispano Suiza built the first electric vehicle in Spain, which was a bus that the company prepared for a hotel in Barcelona. One century later, in the era of electric mobility, the carmaker returns with cutting-edge high-performance technology as seen in the Hispano Suiza Carmen and the Carmen Boulogne, two masterpieces that lead the way for one of the most prestigious automakers in the world.
It is only natural that a company that strives for excellence like Hispano Suiza gives its support to ACCIONA | SAINZ XE Team as the squad fights for the ambitious and thrilling goal of winning the Extreme E Championship with a completely sporting project that is completely Spanish. The adventure starts in Saudi Arabia.
Miguel Suqué Mateu, president of Hispano Suiza:
“In the DNA of Hispano Suiza there have always been values like motorsports and cutting-edge technology, values which are especially relevant in this project. Being able to take our brand to the desert, the Arctic or the Amazon, and doing so in a competitive manner, in a sustainable and respectful way for the planet, is something outstanding that we get from a racing championship that is just as revolutionary as unique”.
Sergio Martínez, CEO of Hispano Suiza:
“Supporting racing, electromobility and sustainability are our reasons to exist. And doing so in a respectful way with the environment is essential to further reduce our carbon footprint. We are satisfied that Hispano Suiza competes another year in Extreme E and proud to be part of the ACCIONA | SAINZ XE Team, which has so much Spanish talent that will surely lead us to many racing successes like the ones that in the past brought Hispano Suiza to podiums all around the world”.
Joan Orús, team principal of ACCIONA | SAINZ XE Team:
“It is a great source of pride for all the team members of the ACCIONA | SAINZ XE Team that an illustrious name like Hispano Suiza joins our project as a sponsor. The legacy of this brand is an inspiration to us all and their confidence is a boost of energy ahead of a new season in which we have set ourselves some really high targets. We want to return with results the support that Hispano Suiza and the other partners of the team have given us”.
